Business & entrepreneurship is to see the value of yourself as a designer and being able to convey this. Starting your own enterprise selling not only your product but also your story. Or at least that is what I thought. After the course Introduction to business design I learned how designers can develop business cases, watch market trends and create propositions to create value. Understanding the inner dynamics of a company, being able to work with these building blocks, and designing with them to create more effective and efficient companies. Being able to integrate lessons learned from a circularity point of view to look at waste streams and possible opportunities of a company. Not just looking at it as an entity but as a part of a network.
Another important aspect that I have learned since my first year is the importance of managing stakeholders within a project. This comes forwards especially within the multidisciplinary project that I am following at the moment, where we are integrating phase-changing materials into the new building plans for the TU/e campus. This process involves many stakeholders with different backgrounds and reasons to collaborate or not, which need to be taken into account.
I have also learned a lot about stakeholder management through my extracurricular activities, being; Department council, Bar.management and DAVER (my start-up with a peer). Learning to deal with and manoeuvre through the political games played on an organisational level. Reaching out to external companies and facilitating collaborations with them.

Future Development
Overall, I have gotten to know this expertise area quite well as a designer. I am looking forward to the more in-depth dive into designing innovation methods that I will be following during my FBP. to immediately be able to implement the knowledge into my project.
